The international PhD conference “Positionierungen | Positionings”, which will take place on 9th and 10th June 2022, is organized by the Institute of Translation Studies of the University of Graz and is open to interested doctoral students in translation studies. The theme is self-reflexivity, self-referentiality, and positioning in the translation studies research or dissertation process.

As scientists, we always contribute to the construction of our research objects ourselves, whereby we decide on a perspective, start from certain assumptions and thus adopt a certain attitude. Dealing with these questions is not always given sufficient space in dissertation projects. The conference should therefore offer participants the opportunity to reflect explicitly on their own position and location-relatedness in the dissertation-related research process and in the associated production of knowledge.

This conference is aimed at interested young researchers in the field of translation studies and offers them a forum for the presentation and discussion of their dissertation projects and at the same time the opportunity to network with one another.

The call for papers is open until 31st January 2022.

The official conference language is German; contributions in English are also welcome.

All conference presentations will be simultaneously interpreted by students for practice purposes.
