12 May 2025On Tuesday 15 April, the Arqus team at the University of Lyon 1 organised an afternoon of activities at the hall of the library for students who were studying for their exams, to offer them a break with activities and games.
This event was organised by the Arqus Alliance, along with the University of Lyon 1 Library, the Equality and Diversity Department, the Student Health Service, and the Student Health Advisers.
The event included booths with Arqus information, quizzes about women’s rights, a music quiz, free drinks and food. Students could also pet dogs and guinea pigs for emotional support. Board games, such as Dixit, Code Names, The Mind and Top Ten, were available for participants to relax and play for a bit.
One of the booths offered a contraception quiz pong, a game called “Violentometer in pop culture” with films, series and cartoons to be placed on a red, orange, yellow and green scale (e.g. gender stereotypes, glamorization of sexual assault, green flag, etc.), as well as cookies on consent and menstruation to help get to know each other.
The Arqus team at the University of Lyon 1 organised a stand with flyers, merchandise, a map darts game, coffee and snacks. A suggestion wall was available to let the students write their suggestions and comments about the event.
250 students attended the event and were very enthusiastic about these activities. They appreciated the opportunity to take a break from studying and have some fun together. It was a success, and we are looking to repeat it next year.
