26 Sep 2025

On 26 September, Arqus joins the celebration of the European Day of Languages with several activities.

For Arqus, as part of an alliance of nine European universities with different cultures and languages, multiculturalism and plurilingualism have always been at the heart of the alliance since its inception. That is why we want to use this day to reinforce our role of enhancing intercultural competence, global understanding, and respect for diversity throughout our communities.

The Arqus Alliance is committed to the advancement of plurilingual and multicultural universities, promoting linguistic and cultural diversity. The Arqus Plurilingual and Intercultural Hub organises multiple initiatives to enhance the language skills of our staff and students: Arqus Cafés, plurilingual summer and winter schools, online courses, webinars and workshops, the plurilingual module, etc.

Arqus celebrates the European Day of Languages

We have prepared a video where Arqus colleagues and students from every partner university have joined us on this special day to wish you all a happy European Day of Languages in their respective Arqus Languages:

Arqus Language Dives

A special Arqus Café event, called Arqus Dives, is taking place today to celebrate the European Day of Languages and invite the Arqus community to “dive” into new languages.

Throughout the day, more than 250 Arqus students and staff will be joining 45-minute Arqus Dives sessions, where they will learn how to introduce themselves and hold a short conversation in a language they have no previous knowledge of.

This unique event offered 19 languages scheduled across different time slots, giving participants the chance to discover as many languages as they wanted.

This activity is the perfect opportunity to learn a new language while interacting, connecting, and socialising with other Arqus students, academics, and staff from different Arqus universities.
