The University of Padua invites you to join the webinar on contemporary Iran and academic freedom

The University of Padua warmly invites students, academics, researchers and all interested participants to attend the second webinar of the Students at Risk (StAR) project webinar series, entitled “Contemporary Iran and Academic Freedom: Students at Risk”, taking place online on 11 May at 15:00 CEST.

The webinar will explore the current situation in Iran, with a particular focus on academic freedom, student activism and the challenges faced by students and women’s rights advocates.

The session will feature:

• Paola Rivetti – Associate Professor of International Relations and author of the recently published Italian-language book History of Iran: Revolution, War and Resistance 1979–2025

• Sara – A women’s rights activist currently based in Iran, who has been involved in women’s rights activism for more than 20 years

Following the speakers’ interventions, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

The webinar is part of the StAR project webinar series, which aims to foster dialogue on academic freedom, inclusion and the protection of students and scholars at risk in different international contexts.
