Vilnius University and FTMC open five postdoctoral positions in terahertz and hybrid semiconductor chips

The Centre of Competence for Terahertz and Hybrid Semiconductor Chips, established by Arqus member Vilnius University (VU) in cooperation with the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) in Vilnius has announced a call for five postdoctoral research positions.

This initiative offers outstanding early-career researchers the opportunity to join cutting-edge projects focusing on next-generation wireless communications, 6G technologies, advanced materials and hybrid integration.

Position details

• Duration: Up to 24 months (2 years), full-time (40 h/week) fixed-term contract

• Location: NFTMC building, Sauletekis av. 3, Vilnius (Lithuania)

• Salary: €35,600 per year (gross, including taxes)

• Resources: Access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure across VU and FTMC (cleanrooms, THz and photonics laboratories, epitaxy, and device-processing facilities), along with dedicated funding for conferences and research visits to partner institutions.

• Expected start date: Flexible between January and September 2027 (to be agreed upon with topic leaders).

Candidate requirements

• Academic degree: A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics, Nanotechnology, or a related discipline obtained within the last 5 years prior to the start of the position.

• Institutional mobility: The PhD dissertation must have been defended at an institution different from the one to which the candidate applies (VU or FTMC).

• Language proficiency: High level of English proficiency (C1 level or higher).
