ISLYE Exchange Programme - Wrocław

ISLYE Exchange Programme – Wrocław

If you are interested in the Polish and Central European market, come to…

Wrocław

It is the largest start-up ecosystem in Poland. According to the “Polish Startups” reports by Start-up Poland Foundation, 28% of Polish startups had their headquarters in Wrocław in 2023 (in 2002 it was 21%).

Wrocław is a city of multiculturalism and innovation in the heart of Europe, only 1 hour’s drive from the Czech Republic and Germany. After the post-socialist transformation in 1989 and the Great Flood that devastated historical parts of the city, Wrocław has transformed into a modern and dynamic city with a wide range of opportunities for developed companies and start-ups from all over the world.

Wrocław is also a city of technology and science with its 10 public universities and several private academic schools. The City of Wrocław and public universities established the Wrocław Technology Park with the Lower Silesian Academic Entrepreneurship Incubator, which was awarded the Best Science Incubator Award in 2013.

University of Wrocław

Founded in 1702, the University of Wrocław is now one of Poland’s largest universities with more than 25,000 students.

Start-up support at the University of Wrocław

Your host will be the Technology Transfer Office, a unit of the University of Wrocław responsible for academic entrepreneurship.

The Technology Transfer Office provides support to potential founders, start-ups and spin-off companies in a wide range of industries. Our research teams focus on life sciences (chemistry, biotechnology, biology, nutrition), energy sector, IT and AI, sustainability and social issues. We offer a tailored approach within the Academic Entrepreneurship Consultancy Point.

Ecosystem

Technology Transfer Office supports entrepreneurs and start-ups from the University. For further support we cooperate with our local ecosystem:

  • Wrocław Technology Park – where you can use office space in the Lower Silesian Academic Entrepreneurship Incubator or laboratories, we can connect you with the Nutribiomed nutrition and biotechnology cluster.
  • Concordia Design Innovation Hub – for start-ups in the ICT sector, where you can start an acceleration programme or network with other start-ups.
  • Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency (ARAW) – if you want to know more about investing in Wrocław, we can put you in touch with ARAW, whose aim is to promote Lower Silesia to foreign investors. The Start-up Wrocław team within ARAW is the official animator of our start-up ecosystem. Their activities are: networking start-ups, large companies, investors, business environment institutions and academia; publishing reports and analyses on the local start-up environment; promoting Wrocław-based start-ups on our website and social media; providing companies with valuable content and promoting knowledge sharing; organising and supporting local and national technology and business events; organising and participating in trade missions.
