Today and tomorrow, Fernando Galán, the Arqus Consortium Manager, is participating in the Micro-Credentials Masterclass held on the coastline outside Barcelona as part of the 2023 Micro-Credentials International Summit.

The Summit is a 5-day international gathering of thought leaders, practitioners, innovators and policymakers working to improve the flexibility and responsiveness of educational systems. It lays out a vision around the empowerment of individuals to create new learning and career pathways while at the same time unlocking the potential of the economies to face unprecedented social, economic and environmental challenges. The Summit builds on the European Union Council Recommendation on Micro-Credentials, finding ways to use this legislative basis as an instrument to accelerate the adoption, acceptance and recognition of short-form education across the continent and beyond.

The event is co-organised by the Knowledge Innovation Centre (KIC), the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

Fernando Galán will participate in the plenary session “Micro-Credentials for Regional Development” that will take place today from 11:15 CET. His presentation entitled “The universities of the future: European Universities initiative and Arqus’ approach to Micro-credentials” will focus on the Arqus work on designing, issuing and recognising micro-credentials. In addition, Fernando will share his vision of the future of micro-credentials at European Universities.
