The Arqus Café is celebrating its 10th edition! In recognition, the Alliance plans to hold a special Arqus Café anniversary event on Europe Day – a day to uplift peace and unity in Europe. This event will also be a way to recognise the wide reach and impact that the Arqus Café has had and an opportunity to celebrate the plurilingualism and linguistic and cultural diversity of the Arqus community. Join us on 9 May at 10 am (CEST)!

The celebration will open with a welcome by the Arqus coordinator Dorothy Kelly and the Arqus Café facilitator Meike Münster. Next, the directors of the language centres at the Arqus Universities and representatives from Arqus Plurilingualism and Intercultural Hub will welcome the group in their respective languages. We plan to use translated captions so that everyone can follow. And then we will open breakout rooms for the Arqus languages – English, French, German, Irish, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Ukrainian. An experienced tutor will lead the conversation in each room.

This event is a great opportunity for you to try out the Arqus Café if you haven’t done so before. Or if you have taken part in the past, then it will be a chance to meet new people and get extra practice with one of the languages you are learning. We recommend that you have at least an A2 level in the language you choose so that you can actively participate.

We invite all Arqus students and staff as well as external participants to join us for this Arqus Café Celebration on 9 May from 10 to 11 am (CEST). Just click on the registration link, fill in the details and you will get the link to the Google Meet room where the event will take place.
