Leipzig hosts Arqus Women Connect to support women starting their careers

29 Apr 2026How can the transition from university to the workplace be managed successfully? This was the focus of the second in-person event by the Arqus Women Connect student initiative held on 23 April at Leipzig University. With the help of experts from the professional world and academia, more than 20 participants discussed what matters most when starting a career.
Under the motto ‘The Transition Gap: From Female Student to Professional’, female students, graduates, and young professionals met at the Global and European Studies Institute in Leipzig to share their experiences and discuss the challenges and opportunities of entering the labour market.
The workshop focused on two key topics: building self-confidence and presenting competence in everyday working life, and taking the first steps in searching for the right job. Through open discussions and expert input from invited speakers Tatiana Ilina, a Leipzig University alumna and headhunter, and Susanne Benko from the university’s Career Service, participants gained strategic guidance and access to a supportive network of like-minded individuals.
Events such as these highlight the Arqus Alliance’s mission to bring universities closer together and support their students in realising their full potential. Arqus Women Connect, a bottom-up initiative funded by the Arqus Innovation Fund, is an example of how projects can emerge from the community itself. It extends beyond the seminar room to address the specific needs of students and provide them with long-term support, even after they have completed their studies.
