20 Apr 2026The Mind, Brain and Behaviour Research Centre (CIMCYC) at the University of Granada will host the International Doctoral Summer School “Psychological Approaches to Misinformation in Minds and Society” from 15 to 18 September 2026.
This four-day, fully in-person event is aimed at early-career researchers and PhD candidates in Psychology and related disciplines.
Misinformation has become a highly relevant topic due to its multiple negative effects on our society, including conspiracy theories, attacks on science, and hate speech. The goal of this summer school is to advance our understanding of how and why people interact with this type of content, as well as to develop evidence-based interventions to reduce individuals’ susceptibility to it.
The CIMCYC International Doctoral Summer School will focus on the psychological study of disinformation, integrating analytical perspectives at individual, group, and societal levels, including basic cognitive processes, biases, persuasion, prejudices, and ideologies. The programme combines keynote lectures by leading international scholars with collaborative teamwork. Sessions led by experts, will address the main theoretical frameworks, methods and empirical findings on disinformation, paying particular attention to the effectiveness and limits of intervention strategies.
Some of the invited guests include Lisa Fazio (Vanderbilt University), Paula Gori (European Digital Media Observatory), Pablo Hernández (Maldita.es Foundation), Stephan Lewandowsky (University of Bristol), Helena Matute (University of Deusto) and Jon Roozenbeek (University of Cambridge). In total, 26 participants will be selected for this stimulating environment for professional development and international networking. The deadline for submitting applications is May 22, 2026.
