07 Jun 2023The University of Granada would like to invite Arqus communities to the international seminar “Descubriendo libros y autores europeos: recientes traducciones de las literaturas de la Europa del Este” (“Discovering European books and authors: recent translations from Eastern European literatures”) organised by the Center of Slavic Cultures of the University of Granada on 14th and 15th June 2023. The event will be held in Spanish and it will have a hybrid format.
Approximately a quarter of all titles published in Spain are translated each year. Of this quarter, half are works translated from English. No other language exceeds the 1% threshold. Among Slavic literatures, only Russian language productions reach this 1%. The others, despite being rich and fascinating, remain almost unknown to the Spanish reader.
The event will count on the participation of international experts, professors and academics, literary translators, and publishers and it is especially addressed to booksellers, publishers, literary agents, translators, and readers who have a latent curiosity to discover new names and titles outside the mainstream.
The face-to-face event will take place next 14th (from 10:00 to 19:15 CEST) and 15th (from 10:00 to 13:00 CEST) June in the Meeting Room of the Palace of the Counts “La Jarosa” (Paz Street, 18, Granada). Virtual attendees will need to register previously to the event through the following link.
