The University of Lyon 1 is very delighted to announce scholarships in support of excellent students who wish to take up their Master’s studies in France, in a Master’s Pogramme dedicated to cancer. Scholarships for Master’s 2 are open for the academic year 2024-2025 to join the “Master Cancer”.

The Master of Oncology (“Master Cancer”) of the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 is promoted by Professors Caroline Moyret-Lalle and Charlotte Rivière and is attached to the Pharmaceutical and Biological Science Institute of this university. It is currently the only Master’s Degree in France entirely dedicated to oncology research.

This Master’s is locally backed by very large internationally recognized research and treatment structures that are: Lyon Cancer Research Center, Léon Bérard Center, LabEX DEVweCAN Development Cancer and targeted therapies, LYRICAN, and Convergences François Rabelais Institute.

The Master of Oncology has very strong international policy and institutional partnerships with the University of Tokyo, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Melbourne and the MIT-France programme.

Within the framework of the International Development Graduate Track (Training in oncology), we are offering Master’s 1 and Master’s 2 scholarships for 2024-2025:

  • From September 2024 to June 2025: 1000 €/month, 10 month-scholarship.

Who can apply?

  • International student: Foreign citizen (exception for French binationals) and being enrolled in a higher education establishment outside France at the time of the application
  • For Master’s 1: student with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • For Master’s 2: first year of Master’s degree related to oncology or related interdisciplinary fields (biosciences, biophysics, bioinformatics).

The deadline for application is 15th May 2024.

  • Interested Arqus students can choose between four possible specialties within this Master’s:
    • Cancer Biology: Focus on the latest fundamental discoveries in the biological mechanisms of cancer. Lectures are given by internationally recognised researchers.
    • Therapeutic Innovations in Oncology: Focus on drug design, therapeutic innovations and clinical trials in oncology in collaboration with teachers from the Lyon Veterinary School (cancers in pets).
    • Cancer Bioengineering Master: Focus on the transdisciplinary teaching of physico-chemical properties of cancers, innovative technologies (biomechanics in 3D models, microfluidics and new devices) to better approach the physiology of the tumour in vitro.
