Arqus strengthens its presence at EAIE 2026 in Glasgow

Arqus will have a strong presence at the 36th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE), taking place in Glasgow from 8 to 11 September 2026. 

More than 30 representatives from Arqus universities will form the Alliance’s delegation at EAIE 2026, making the conference an important opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships, prepare meetings with key stakeholders and explore new opportunities for international collaboration. 

The 2026 conference theme, The Rhythm of Revolution, invites participants to question, collaborate and create lasting change. This vision strongly resonates with the mission of the European Universities alliances, which continue to pioneer innovative models of transnational education and institutional cooperation.

As in previous editions, the alliances will showcase their impactful initiatives and experiences through more than 40 sessions and networking events. Alliances’ engagement demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening the European Higher Education Area through innovation, inclusion, mobility and strategic international partnerships.

With thousands of higher education professionals from across Europe and beyond expected to attend the conference, EAIE provides a valuable platform for Arqus to showcase its work, connect with international partners and increase the visibility of the Alliance and its member universities.

Participants will be able to meet the Arqus delegation and learn more about the Alliance at booth G23, which will serve as a meeting point throughout the conference.

Sharing Arqus experiences and initiatives

Arqus will also contribute to the EAIE programme by showcasing the work developed within the Alliance. Among the activities, Ninon Böhme, from Leipzig University, will present the poster “Green mobility, from Leipzig University to Europe: A journey with the Arqus Alliance”, offering an opportunity to share Arqus’ experience and promoting more sustainable ways of travelling, from practical initiatives and incentives to examples of greener mobility options and their impact on CO₂ emissions.

Besides, Samira Bonucci, from the University of Padua, will be one of the two speakers in the workshop W09 “Europe to the world: Rethinking joint programmes from a global perspective“, on 8 September 202 from 13.30 to 17.00. Together with Mirko Varano (Tecnologico De Monterrey – ITESM, Mexico), they will share concrete examples of successful practices and lessons learned from challenges encountered in the design and implementation of joint programmes with global partners. Room: Boisdale 1, SEC Centre, Ground floor”.

EAIE 2026 will therefore be an important meeting point for Arqus, bringing together colleagues from its universities and providing a space to exchange ideas, strengthen strategic relationships and give greater visibility to the Alliance’s work at one of the key international higher education events in Europe.

Advancing Arqus’ global outreach

Arqus has also recently published its Global Outreach Strategy, setting out a framework to strengthen the Alliance’s international engagement and partnerships beyond Europe. EAIE 2026 provides a timely opportunity to put this strategy into action, building connections with international partners and advancing the priorities outlined in the plan.

European Universities Alliances as role models: FOREU4ALL Sessions at the European Commission stand

FOREU4ALL will once again contribute to amplifying the collective voice of the European Universities alliances by engaging with higher education institutions beyond the alliances and supporting member states in their efforts to modernise their national higher education systems.

As part of the programme, FOREU4ALL, together with its ‘sister projects’ Future4Alliances and SPREAD EUI, and the European Commission, will host two special joint sessions at the European Commission’s stand. 

These dedicated sessions will examine how higher education institutions outside these alliances can draw on their experiences, practices, and innovations. They will also explore how higher education systems beyond Europe can adapt and implement elements of the initiative within their own policy and institutional contexts.
