07 Mar 2025From the University of Padua, students Davide Bicego and Stefano Polese had the opportunity to travel to the University of Graz at the end of February and learn how to launch a start-up.
Davide and Stefano had motivation and many innovative ideas they want to turn into a start-up company. The big question they faced: how do we go about it? Arqus enables students to gather key expertise across national borders.
The Arqus initiative ISLYE (International Soft Landing for Young Entrepreneurs) provides the basis for this opportunity. As part of ISLYE, students and researchers can travel to other Arqus locations to spend a week gaining knowledge about business start-ups and management.
Padua students Davide and Stefano wanted to gather information and discuss if their ideas were feasible. “There’s more to a start-up than just good ideas. We also want to know how to do business properly and how best to run a company”, Davide explained. At the University of Graz they counted with the expertise of the Unicorn Start-up and Innovation Hub. Under the management of Bernhard Weber, these two aspiring entrepreneurs were given a helping hand and a place to develop ideas and network with clever minds.
Bernhard Weber celebrated this initiative: “We are not only helping young entrepreneurs, but also benefiting from it ourselves. After all, important international contacts are linked in this way. It’s a great experience for both sides.”
Davide and Stefano were thankful for this opportunity the Arqus Alliance offers to students and researchers from its partner universities. They were able to explore further how to launch a start-up, network with experts and get to know the University of Graz.
