The new Arqus Metal-Organic Network met for the first time in Lyon
|15 Mar 2023
Last 9th and 10th March, the recently created Arqus Metal-Organic Network held its first meeting in Lyon. The event, organised at the initiative of Dominique Luneau, Professor at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, brought together academics from the Universities of Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon 1 and Padua.
The Network has been funded thanks to the Arqus Seed Funding call for 2022-2023. The Seed Funding is a tool that aims to develop collaborations of excellence, bring out scientific poles of international level and improve the capacities of research and expertise of the Alliance members.
The Metal-Organic Network builds on previous collaborations among the researchers and, above all, recent joint activities carried out within the framework of the Alliance, such as the visit of a PhD student from Lyon 1 to Padua and the participation of their members in the Research Focus Forum “Smart Materials & Surface Science” hosted by the University of Granada in September 2022.
This 2-day kick-off meeting was aimed at bringing together different research groups working in the field of coordination chemistry within the universities of the Alliance. The event has already made it possible to identify many common areas of interest. Chiefly, the exchanges confirmed the participants’ desire to pay particular attention to the links between training and research. In this regard, the preparation of a joint application to the MSCA Doctoral Network 2023 call, aimed at implementing doctoral programmes by partnerships of universities, research institutions and businesses, is underway.
The Arqus network is an example of the impact of the Alliance to exploit the full potential of the synergies between teaching, learning and research across the university members, as the basis for the production of cutting-edge research in the field but also for early-stage researcher development and the promotion of shared opportunities.
