21 Oct 2024Today, 21 October 2024, Arqus Rectors and their representatives are meeting at the University of Lyon 1 to discuss key issues related to the strategic direction of the Alliance, such as the Arqus global dimension, the next steps towards becoming a legal entity or the renewal of funding for the period 2026-28. Other items on the agenda include the discussion and approval of the Arqus Position Paper on the European Degree or the preparations for the next Arqus Annual Conference, planned at Leipzig University in April 2025.
“This meeting is important for the future of the alliance. There are central issues on the table that need to be analysed jointly in depth to allow the alliance to move forward . I am sure it will be a productive meeting where we will share achievements and define next steps that will reinforce the long-term strategy of the alliance”, says Dorothy Kelly, Arqus Coordinator.
The Arqus Rectors’ Council is formed by the Rector or President of each partner university. It is the body responsible for setting general policy, medium and long-term strategies and key objectives for the Alliance, and as such is key to ensuring full institutional commitment to Alliance policies and activities.
The previous Council meeting was held in Guimarães on 1 July 2024, one day before the official start of the Arqus 2024 Annual Conference, held as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the University of Minho.
