The University of Lyon 1 hosts the kick-off event of the MSCA-COFUND Archifun International Doctoral Programme

The launch of this international doctoral programme, which is part of the Marie Sklodowska Curie COFUND initiative, coordinated by the UCBL in collaboration with the Arqus Alliance took place on 22 October 2024.

The Architecture, Function, and Dynamics in Life Sciences (ArchiFun) Doctoral Programme officially kicked off with a hybrid meeting held at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL), in the conference room of the Institute of Analytical Sciences (ISA) and online. The event brought together 40 participants, including doctoral fellows, researchers, administrative and academic staff of UCBL.

The agenda included an introduction to ArchiFun by the management team, followed by roundtable discussions with both implementing and associated partners and the presentationof the research prijects by the 12 Doctoral Fellows recruited in the first call.

The ArchiFun Doctoral Programme

The programme aims to recruit 23 doctoral fellows over the next two years, offering them an opportunity to pursue advanced research across European universities (UGR, UNIPD, VU, TUM, NIC, BIFI-UNIZAR), research centres (Institut Pasteur, ESRF, KCL) and SME (NanoTemper Technologies, NovAliX, FidaBio, PULSALYS).

Dorothy Kelly, Arqus Coordinator, also led the closing remarks, emphasising how ArchiFun represents another key step in strengthening the link between research and training within the Arqus Alliance. She highlighted the programme’s importance as part of the broader strategy to advance European collaboration in education and science.

The event closed with a lunch, offering attendees an opportunity for further networking and collaboration.
