New learning opportunities and resources now available through the Arqus Plurilingual and Intercultural Hub

The Arqus Plurilingual and Intercultural Hub continues to expand its offer of opportunities and resources for language learning, plurilingualism and intercultural development across the Alliance. Two new dedicated spaces are now available on the Arqus website, bringing together opportunities for structured learning and a curated selection of resources that can support lifelong language and intercultural learning.

Plurilingualism and interculturality are key dimensions for Arqus. Through the Hub, Arqus universities work together to enhance the language skills of students and staff and promote opportunities for learning, communication and intercultural exchange.

A structured opportunity to develop plurilingual skills

The Arqus Plurilingualism Module offers students an opportunity to work on their foreign language skills while developing a deeper understanding of language, culture and language-learning strategies.

The module was first piloted during the 2024–25 academic year and was offered on a larger scale in 2025–26. Applications are now open for the 2026–27 academic year.

Designed as a fully online, self-paced programme, the module combines different forms of language learning. Participants can learn a new language through an A1 course, continue developing an existing language through activities such as the Arqus Café and tandem programmes, and explore theoretical aspects of language and culture.

The five-month module comprises 150 academic hours, combining contact and individual work. Depending on their university, participants can receive 5 ECTS credits or an Arqus certificate of participation.

The module provides a flexible way for students to integrate language learning into their academic experience while reflecting critically on their own linguistic and cultural learning.

Resources for lifelong plurilingual and intercultural learning

For those looking for opportunities beyond a specific course or programme, the Hub has also created a Public Resources for Lifelong Plurilingual and Intercultural Learning space.

The new resource collection responds to the need for learning opportunities that remain accessible beyond time-limited programmes, courses and workshops. It brings together a curated selection of resources and opportunities available across the Arqus universities, supporting members of the Alliance in continuing their language and intercultural learning at different stages of their academic and professional lives.

The collection includes resources covering areas such as general language courses, language learning opportunities and intercultural learning, with options offered by different Arqus universities. Most of the resources are free and open access, although some opportunities have associated costs and availability may vary depending on the academic year.

Rather than providing a single learning pathway, this space is designed as a practical starting point for exploring the opportunities available across the Alliance and finding resources that match individual learning needs and interests.
